I just happen to be one who cant afford to buy a fridge very often. So a lot of thought, observation and investigation went into my purchase. It took us (my wife and I) atleast 2 months before we decided to go for a Siemens 330 litre fridge.
Some of the good thoughtful things which we observed:
Siemens fridges give more usable litres compared to other brands.
Old fashioned wiremeshes - instead of the new crystal ones -- are easy to clean and last long. You may beg to differ, but this is IMHO.
A tall design provides for 3 racks. All the other fridges - we saw almost all comparable models from all makers - gave only 2 racks, which means you get atleast much more space compared to other fridges.
The door gaskets - or whatever you call it - are detachable and hence easy to clean.
Doors can be fitted to open either from left or from right. A good convenience for modern apartments.
Some of the other better features that made us go for the above 300L category will be common to other fridges in the class:
Separate temperature control for freezer and refrigerator.
External temperature selector - no more bending and hunting for that knob as in older models.
Customer service is good... although I had to wait for a few weeks before I got my fridge - I had ordered for an upgraded model.
The rare times I open the fridge, I see huge kalams and pans inside and thats when I feel happy that we have a Siemens fridge.
