A good college, but many milestones to be crossed.

It’s been two years since I joined this insti!

It was good and bad in ways.but this college is really NOT THAT BAD.

UPDATE: I cleared HSC PCM - 84%, Overall 72%

THANKS TO VOCATIONAL DEPT of this college, their idiotic ways, pathetic teaching, sad behaviour at the time of my board practicals.I scored a mere 102/200 in CS despite 100 marks for practicals.First they give us 48 PRACTICALS(no college in Mumbai does this for CS, I have made 5 calls to verify this) which is more than all the PCM Practicals added together here which is 42 PRACTICALS PCM together for XII.I messed up with the practicals to keep up with PCM but those people didn’t even help me which other colleges usually do.They called my parents and made it the worst day of my college life.SO FOR ME THAT DEPARTMENT SUCKS big time!

So my sincere advise: AVOID TAKING VOCATIONAL SUBJECTs HERE.

PLEASE RATE MY REVIEW AFTER YOU READ IT.THANK YOU.

Well, I managed to get good marks in my SSC exam and was thinking about the college I should join.

The first three which came to my mind.

RUPAREL - I thought I’ll be lucky to get in here. But the cut-off was too high.

RUIA - Same thing, but I could have eventually got in here.

SIES - I was sure that I will get admission with the subject of my choice since I had this linguistic minority place and good marks too and was completely correct.

ATMOSPHERE: S.I.E.S campus is way to small, and it feels like all those arts, science and degree collegians are crammed into one big building, but its not that bad either. You will get some space to walk around, but mind you, don’t think you can be a free bird here.

ADMISSION: If you are Richie Rich, don’t worry about things called as marks, subject and whatever.Corruption is the heart of this college in ADMISSIONS.Even those idiots scoring low marks in SSC get in here showing the green power.money lol!Even staff whose children fare badly get here, I hate to see this!

If you are planning to take LINGUISTIC MINORITY quota, make sure you act before the admission process begins.

CAMPUS, CANTEEN and the hangouts: There is no "campus" as such, just a big building with a QUADRANGLE.So you can’t keep standing in the corridors for fun.Its located in SION just 5 minutes walking distance from SION STATION.

CANTEEN: The canteen is here is located underground and has a menu list put up.However you should try stuff like Veg.Fried Rice, Vada pav here, its better than even the south-indian food here.Besides you have dosas, idlis, etc.but one thing true is that you can’t sit in the canteen peacefully, some stupid people are always sitting there and chattering crap, making lots of noise, so its better to take your food and run!

Better get out to get a fresh breath of air.You can find frankie-wallah’s near-by.great price.better taste.

Close-by you can find a Cafe’ Coffee Day outlet and a Hotel called "GuruKripa" famous for its food, but I guess unavailability of other option makes it so famous.Nothing much, it just has fame.Thats all.

Also you got Reliance Fresh Outlet just opposite to GURUKRIPA.I like to buy colas, juices out there.

CROWD: Now about the crowd here, according to my views, is very different from other colleges. You will find that most of the people are quite clever. Most of them are southies.even I am one!Don’t know about other religions, but simply, I won’t care about this much.Just stay with good people and you’ll enjoy it.

Some people are rude and offensive, just stay 12 feet away from them. And we only have few beauties in our classes.no good-looking girls who make us study harder.anyways you won’t have time for this.:P

Degree college people, most of them appear friendly and the best part is there is no ragging here.RAGGING is an offense and its strictly not allowed here.Thumbs up!

FEES and "Hidden Charges": Well, the fees is fine for a middle class person but as most of the reviewers have mentioned, if you are Richie Rich, don’t worry about things called as marks, subject and whatever.Corruption is the heart of this college in ADMISSIONS.

Vocational Subjects will cost you heavy, anywhere around 15k per year. Also college fees is different, its around 3k but this is decent. Now, the "HIDDEN CHARGES" can be easily found to be the money you spend on Journal, totaling about 250 per subject average, so its 750 for the journals. Also college funds take some money, a thing which is bad is that you are forced to donate here, eliminating the real meaning of donation, though the amount is less, its a head-ache to see the teachers demanding money at such times.

COLLEGE STAFF: The college staff, both teaching and non-teaching are fine enough. Most of them communicate in Hindi. They are friendly at most of the times. You find a good mixture of good and bad here.

FACULITY:

Teaching staff is decent. Some are good, most of them are rude. But most of them care for your success. The best ones:

Prof. Santosh Nar for Maths - Unfortunately he is not the Head of Maths Dept, but he is excellent at his work and you can learn a lot from him.Good vibes and good inspiration. The best STAFF member according to me.Rating is more than A+.If you are lucky to have him, you’ll have fun @ learning his chapters in maths.Other Maths profs are pathetic.

Prof. Placid D’souza for Physics - To be frank, people including me are sometimes confused and bored with this examples, but he is a very nice person to teach you provided you don’t mess with either him or his subject.Be ready to get Cal-Remarks in your practicals.Very precise and helpful provided you ask him for help.

Prof. Purnima and Sakroo Mam - Both are Chemistry teachers.Nice to have them.

Prof. Chitra Iyer for English - Well, she is the best staff member from the English Faculty. If lucky, you’ll be having her as English - Prose teacher. She is very good at teaching things and quite sensible.Open to discussions and will also let you tell your views.

The not-so-good: Whatever happens stay away from MATHS FACULTY except Santosh Sir.EVS teacher is not very friendly either. And Vocational dept. is the worst I have seen.Names not mentioned since these are my personal views.I have no intention to defame or anything against them. Its just that I am not comfortable with them. One English teacher is also quite bad, she likes to criticize any sMr_customtakeouternt for stupid reasons and loves to make fun of him/her in front of the whole class.

PRACTICAL LAB FACILITIES: Practical labs here are fine.Physics lab being the finest since its always arranged well, has all equipments working fine.Chemistry lab is too suffocating, you gotto inhale gases simultaneously as you learn about them, a better learning experience I guess.Computer Science Lab is the worst.Despite paying 3 times more than college fees for a VOCATIONAL subject, this thing sucks a lot.My friend says its like "Pandhra Hazaar ka CS.aur Do Kaudi ki facilities"-This is really true.take CS and you’ll know it all.
