The installation charges in sify varies from person to person. They say Rs.1500/- initially when you insist on paying less they agree for that. So there is no basis on which the installation charges are levied.
The installation amount has to be paid in advance, after taking the advance the sales representative will say that the connection will be given within 24 hours. He will take money and will not return until you call him repeatedly, for me it has taken 8 days to get the connection. The connection will be in the name of some other person. you have to call the help desk to change the personal details.
It worked fine for a couple of days, then error started coming, in the evenings. For the whole evening I can’t browse. When I lodged a complaint, it will be ok by morning, but again same issue by the evening. The customer care representative will say that they have changed a new equipment and it will not appear again, but It is not the case, I got the error repeatedly.
After 10 days of this exercise, it worked well for a week. Then again a error, this time the customer care were not quick enough to solve the issue overnight. The rest of the month I was unable to login, when asked for extension of validity period after solving the problem, there was no reply.
I paid Rs. 800 for 1 month as rental, out of which I used the net only for some 12 days. There were few calls from their end to renew the account, when told about the problem again they say that they have raised a complaint and will get back to me in 12 hours. **I strongly recommend not to go for sify, if you are taking internet connection.
