I have been a Sify Broadband customer for the last year or so. Though my browsing experience (speed) has been satisfactory, I have found their Customer Care service and support to be pathetic. Even the local Sify franchisee (Globcast.com) is of little help and their staff extremely arrogant.
On 11th August, 2004, when I had to send some urgent emails I found the network connectivity icon showing the cable was disconnected. I suspected it to be a routine activity at the local cable operator that may last a few hours. But unfortunately when I saw the network status had not changed after a few hours I decided to check the cable. Everything seemed alright, but when I physically unplugged the cable, I found it to be moist. So I opened my PC cabinet and to my horror found water (3 mms) just about touching the motherboard. I immediately called the Sify help line and informed them of the problem.
Its been 12 days since I have been relentlessly calling their support team. Apart from an assurance that someone would be visiting me soon, I have not had a single visit from their support staff.
I have tried complaining through different channels now, but the response has always been cold.
So my advice to all you guys is Dont trust SIFY to provide you with a good service.
This has not been my first BAD experience with Sify. I will be posting you of all my experiences soon. Watch out....
