Why invest time & money on a broadband ?
Stable Connection & good speeds.. As long as that is there, I am willing to forgive the rest..
First the good part >>
I got a 1GB data account (256 kbps connection) for Rs.2500 (plus tax) with Rs.1000/- one time installation fees (paid to local vendor)..
The connection is good & I get as much as 200+ kbps speeds on the broadband..
All in all a no-issues ’’ I got what I was looking for’’ connection..
The one-time but difficult part >>
Either you understand computers reasonably well - that means how to set up IP addresses manually & put in a DNS server address etc - or get someone who does it for you (and trust him with it !)..
My case was specifically difficult since I was using a office laptop over this connection & using VPN.. The office has a DHCP while Sify server does not.. So each time, I need to manually configure the connection (Windows XP has a alternative configuration tab - which for some reason does not work in my case !)
I dumped the relevant registry details and finally managed to make it a one click process..
In all fairness, this has nothing to do with Sify however.. Just the process of a broadband connection itself..
Bottomline >> Stable Connection & Good speeds.. I have been on it only 3 days.. but it has been smooth sailing so far !!
Why don’t I rate it the best ? Because they don’t offer better speeds than 256 kbps connections..
