I am a Sify Broadband user and I have this connection since 4-5 months. I would like to bring to your notice that I am being charged extra by my cable operator for your broadband services. For example when I renew my account , my Login Screen shows a balance of Rs.365.00 . It does not include about Rs. 50 for taxes. APART FROM THAT MY CABLE OPERATOR CHARGES ME RS.50 EXTRA FOR SO CALLED MAINTAINENCE CHARGES. So I end up paying Rs.100 more than what is shown on the login screen.
Still I would not have complained if it was only this.
A few months ago , lightening struck on your sifys antenna and due to that all the LAN cards of the users in our area were damaged.So I asked my cable operator to replace them AS THE FAULT DID NOT ARISE FROM THE USERS COMPUTERS but my cable operator did not replace them when I called up Sifys Customer Care Numbers they told me That the "Maintainance Charge" includes "everything" and when I told them about this case they failed to give me a satisfactory response.
Now please tell me if I am paying the maintainence charge for your services ,
Wasnt my cable operator supposed to replace the damaged Lan cards ? Can I expect any sort of Compensation from your side? Can you please tell the Cable Operator not to fleece the customers by charging more money than printed on your Brouchere ?
I am expecting a satisfactory response from your side , else I might have to disconnect Sify Broadband & also discourage anyone who wishes to have your connection.

Thank you for contacting Sify Customercare.
We would wish to clarify that you would be aware that though Sify maintain the
entire network , the last mile cable / switch and adaptors are maintained by the
respective CTOs. There are so many external factors that affect the cables/
equipments and are subject to natural forces and wear & tear, and the CTOs
to have accelerate daily maintenance to provide seamless connectivity. Thereby
all the CTOs are collecting a nominal charge for maintenance of these cables
and switches.
We sincerely trust that the above is in line with your query on the maintenance

My Next e-mail to Sify
So if you feel that the maintainence charge asked by the CTOs is nominal,
can you ask the CTOs to provide the users a log which shows their detailed
monthly expenditure on such "maintainence" and the total
amount of extra money collected?
Also Shouldnt Sify replace the
customers damaged computer parts if the damage was caused by the fault in their
equipment?

They did not send a reply to this email. They called me up and told me
that I was free to contact the cable operator and ask him about the charges.
Dont be surprised that if you ask this question to your cable operator and
he gives you a vague reply.
SO IF ANY SIFY USERS ARE STILL READING THIS, YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR CABLE OPERATOR
TO SHOW YOU THE DETAILED MONTHLY EXPENDITURE AND THREATEN THAT IF HE DOESNT THEN
YOU WOULD STOP PAYING THE EXTRA MONTHLY "MAINTAINENCE CHARGES".
