Last year I had trip to European hill stations like Norway, Sweden, Austria except infrastructure Sikkim can score a point over whole lot of european destinations. A must for people in need of spending time in natural surroundings.
I visited Sikkim in 3rd week of March.
The big trip to Yumthang and Gondomaur lake(it is a tiring 2 night 3 day trip(do not take it if you are going for 3-4 days)
The chango lake, very near to gangtok neither tiring nor time consuming a sureshot place of snow world.
Rumtek Monastery, jhagira falls, hanuman tok etc - Comes under local sight seeing.
I went for all of them in a group of 6, one shouldn’t take the first one if not going for less than 5-6 days, its extremely tiring specially the Gondomaur because you reach 17, 500ft and you cannot enjoy there because of lack of oxygen, better go to Chango lake, nathu la pass(it was closed).
All nature lovers, lovers, people who want to take time off from cities, must visit Sikkim.
Caution: DO NOT TAKE PACKAGE TOURS FROM NEW JALPAIGURI, specially THE PRIVATE TOUR OPERATORS, They cheat people endlessly not only on price but the service they give for the price.
To name a few ANNAPURNA Travels, in front of NJP railway station- they are outright thieves, I met lot of people who were cheated. Some people went to police to lodge complaint against them.
NARAYAN Travels, Gangtok in partnership with hotels like Splendid Hills is the worst tour operating agency, you will never know who is the right person to talk to, they will ruin your entire trip.
No matter how sweetly these guys talk to you they are there to make quick money so they will cheat you wherever they can.
Hope you save yourself from these guys.
If you want to take a package tour from NJP itself, then take the trip that irctc offers, its a little expensive but its safe and genuine.
Enjoy Sikkim, its one of the God’s own country.
