Great peaceful homely stay at Silent Waters

2010 New year Eve was at Silent Waters. The place is nice and silent indeed. We took a family cottage and should say, the stay was pleasant for sure.

The cottage was Clean, Peaceful, Private, Safe with ample space for luggage and had decent bathrooms with hot water facility. Entry into each cottage had been made with lot of thought and it made each of the cotttages look like individual ones. We felt as if we were the only ones in the resort all the time.

The People at Silent Waters were very hospitable. They address their customers as guests and treat them as their own. It was indeed a stay like home away from home. Amenities and Food, Milk, hot water were available 24 X7. And the unlimited supply of Hot Tea and Coffee from early morning till night were an added gift for Caffeine addicts like me.

The arrangement of Buffet was different with an the open dining area and the food was great too.

Apart from the south Indian Idly, Pongal and Vada, there was Bread, tasty Omlettes and butter available. all in bottom less serving trays.Surprisingly, the timing of food was flexible unlike many other resorts I have visited and it gave us more warmth when the room boy came to our cottage thrice requesting us the lazy bmus* to come for breakfast. They waited till everyone in the resort had a satisfying fill.

Nonveg Buffet was tasty and the Biryani from the special caterer was surprisingly good.

I personally feel they could have a few more dishes if they try and that would make the spread excellent. And probably add fresh juices too which were not available. Not everyone would want aerated drinks.

There are not many places in yelagiri that one could spend a whole day sight seeing. But there are trekking routes in Yelagiri.I havent taken any to comment though.

Apart from the peaceful ambience at the resort, there are Swings for both Adults and children, Slides and play stuff for the children, Outdoor games like badminton, Cricket, Frisbee and Football are playable in the play area which is as big as one and a half badminton courts. There are a lot of open shades to sit and read a book or get hooked to an ipod or just laze or romance with your loved ones. My personal favourite was a nicely laid out hammock which really had a private feel to it. I even asked the host if I can book the hammock for myself till the time I left. :)

One thing they can think of to improve in the resort are the availablity of Fridges in rooms and also add some nicely laid out lawns in a few places which are not accessible because theres lot of vegetation.

I was there in late December and the weather was plesant on the whole but a bit sunny during mid days.

As it was the New Year’s eve, they had arranged party games for Kids and great Fireworks along with Nice Music which I usually find in Pubs in the city. The guy there knew what the guests liked. All of us were in the mid 30s and I could tell all were party lovers. The music kept the night alive and the party went on late.

Over all the experience was great and we will definitely visit and stay at Silent Waters the next time.
