I hate hindi movies that try to show that marriage comes above all things, even if that marriage is baseless. In this movie, a man marries a woman, Shobha, out of pity and obligation--because her fiance, who happened to be his brother, is dead and she is pregnant. What bothered me the most about the movie was how weak Shobhas character is. If she decided to fall in love and also get pregnant before marriage, that was a risk she chose to take--there was no reason to get anyone else involved in the matter. If one takes a risk, one should be ready to face the consequences, whatever those may be. I thought the fact that she agreed to the marriage with Amit showed how weak of a woman she was. She should have been strong enough to say no and live her own life.
Despite the flawed message, the acting was great, the songs are timeless, and the plot was still gripping. An engaging movie to watch, although a stupid one.
