I travel quite frequently by air, and they being my personal trips I usually pick up what is availble at the lowest cost.but this resolution of mine has changed since last september.and that was when I promised myslef never to pick Air Deccan again.a big no to them.
In fact I have travelled multiple times by AIr Deccan in last one year.must be atleast 8-10 times.and more often than not I have been pissed off by their service and attitude.in fact my very first trip from Bangalore to Delhi in Dec2005 was delayed by more than 12 hours.was supposed to start at 5:50 AM in the morning.boarding on time.stayed in plane for about an hour and then we were deplaned with no proper reasoning or no proper helpdesk.left stranded on airport with just one low-ranked official from Air Deccan who time and again was feeding same argument "It is low cost so we have to compromise on the service aspect".well that was one hell of the comment I ever heard from these jokers. moreover they never told exact time of the next flight and kept postponing every for an hour or two until we made pain in their a and they budged to deroute some Gwalior based aircraft to Bangalore.and it all took 12 hours.s* service.
coming to the september 2006 episode.I flew between Bangalore to Mumbai to visit my friend. was carrying Alcohol bootle that I bought from duty free shop.due to recent fear developments no liquid was allowed on board, so I called up their cal lcentre two days before hand to enquire if it will be allowed in checked in.and to my pleasure I was told yes.so while checking in I especaily mentioned about bottle in my bag and got the "Fragile item" tagged on my bag.just to add that it was a leather suitecase so anyway I was sure that my bottle is safe in the bag with clothes all around workign as cushion.but to my shock on bombay airport that bag was seriously crushed from the top and bottle broken.
A mere look at it revealed that either something heavy was thrown on the top of it or the bag itslef was dropped from the height on some hard surface.anyways Air deccan staff had already made a(w)hole in my pocket as the cost of bottle was more than the cost of ticket itself. I caught hold of Air Deccan staff on duty, and mannged to get a receipt of "damaged goods compensation".I called up Mr Tushar and Mr Manish( number provided by staff).and they declined to take any responsibility of the incident saying that carrying of fragile item safely is not their responisibility.another s* reply.after my return to banaglore I took it with Mr Prabhat Bannerjee and Mr Ronald Mathias through emails.
After a month long email and phone communications.they also ended with the same s* reply.throughout the communication they pretended well enought to show that they are listening to the whole problem and trying their hard to compensate for that, but the day I told them about the price of bottle they made a u turn and started whining about same airline policy .
