Pros: A small aircraft, not crowded many times, easily affordable by common man.
Cons: Always delays, most of their flights get cancelled frequently, not trustworthy for a business/quick flier trying to catchup with connected flights.
I had this bad experience during my recent visit.
On 7th April, I, my wife, and kid were to board the 8.30 pm flight to Chennai from Bangalore. when we reached the airport, we came to know that the flight will leave now at 11:15 pm, after people were asked to check-in. After the check-in, in the waiting hall, there was an announcement that the flight will leave now at 00:05 AM on 8th April.... What?? is it a flight or a BMTC/Public Transport Bus?
Literally got pissedoff as my kid began to sleep amidst the mosquito bites in the waiting hall.
Then came a security women, who does the checkin, started watching the movie on the Zee Cinema with loud noise, only 20 odd passengers at that odd hours.
My wife started eating my head, Why didn’t you book the tickets in KingFisher Airlines or Jet Airways? I have to pacify her for hours before we boarded the flight.
The return journey also very pathetic!!!
Boarded the flight at Chennai on 10th April, 2006. The flight was at 8:30 PM. checked-in at 8:10 PM with my family. then came a request from one of the flight attendant, that a foreigner lady, who is pregnant, missed her flight, need to catchup the Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt from Bangalore, to keep my kid on my lap to accommodate the phirangi. We thought we will help Air Deccan/Phirang. Alas came to us surprise, that they have booked excess tickets!!!! and the flight got delayed by this process as they need to fix this issue. By then the ATR hasn’t cleared the flight.
How can the Airport Authority/the responsible authorities grant permission to air carriers to carry excess passengers?
After an non-A/C flight, misserable situation, landed in Bangalore at 11 PM.
Never ever trust these Air Deccan flights... flights?... BMTC/public transport busses...
