Amongst all the airlines Ive travelled, Air Deccan is the most difficult to fathom. On one hand you get unbelievably cheap fares, and on the other, you get the cheapest service ever.
Usually most people, normal non-superman gene pool people hate airports, atleast Indian airports, and patience is something airline travellers lack. Instead of managing their check-in better, the process is excrutiatinly slow. Lines have sometimes exceeded half hour, which is poor for even discount airlines.
Adding insult to injury is Air Deccans lack of punctuality. Ive been booked on Air Deccan thrice, and on all three return flights, the wait times differed between 45 minutes to 2 hours. Apparently, Air Deccan is notorious for being tardy, as validated by fellow travellers.
Another problem is a free-for-all in terms of seating. When given a choice, everyone makes a beeline for the window or aisle seat. It could be better managed if it were on a first come first served basis at the check-in.
Also, when hunger strikes, this airline saves you from the pangs of bland airline food, by charging you for it. What did they have on offer? Colas and a packet of cashew. I lost my appetite.
The only saving grace, besides the cheap fares, is an exceptional track record for safety and decent in-flight service. You cant blame them for being arrogant if you are rude or demand freebies.
Id recommend this airline for the convenient timings or as a courtesy to someone else whose buying you the tickets.
Negatives: Always late, No Choice of Food, No Freebies, Long Queues For Check-in
Positive: Cheapest Tickets
