I have been flying Deccan for the last yr or so. Let me be very frank...my personal experiences are not as bad as I hear from the people I know. I have flown around 5-6 times for the last yr. The maximum delay in those flights was 2 hours, which in my opinion is not too bad.
I would bullet my experiences in Air deccan
Flights are pretty new. Interiors are good. But I remember once they switched on all the AC units, to my surprise I found a swarm of mosquitoes coming out!! Strange...
At a lower altitude, a baby who threw up, much to our surprise we could not find air sickness bags in any of the pouches. At enquiry, the flight attendant justified that since the flight came from mumbai, they could not replenish the bags.. strange.. not a single one!! Best part .. the height of courteouness, the attendant kept on arguing without apologizing. I hear Deccan was hiring attendants from other hospitality industries. Wonder which hospitality industry hires ppl like this.
You hv to buy food and I shld say that food is old and the quality is poor. Even the supposed hot water they serve for Coffee is less than lukewarm.
Leg space is really low .. close to negligible. My parents once had knee pain after a travel.
Free seating idea reminds me of the suburban local train travel. I do not understand what the heck it takes to allocate seats!!! This CANNOT be an innovative idea anyway!!! I personally remember of a couple with 2 small kids who had a horrendous time getting seated since all the passengers rushed for their seats. Finally I moved out of my seat so that they could be comfortable for the journey.
Cancellation and refunds a big pain. I had to follow-up thrice to get refunds. Their web cancellation simply DOES NOT WORK.
My opinion is that if you have a serious business/personal affair to take care of and planning to fly Deccan.. u shld think again. Otherwise if you get a really cheap ticket, you should be able to tolerate the negatives and fly Deccan.
