As much as I love to hate Air Deccan, I can’t help but love this airline too. Whoever wrote that the flights are not significantly cheaper than other airlines is living in a delusion. Air Deccan has the cheapest rates for most flights, save a couple flights from Delhi. And you don’t have to book months in advance to get the good deals. Another big plus is that they don’t discriminate in prices between Indians and foreign nationals -- it is accessible to everybody. Other airlines charge up to three times the amount as Air Deccan, as if foreigners are stacked with cash and don’t mind the blatant discrimination.
It’s also misleading to blame Air Deccan as if it’s the only airline that has problems with poor customer service. Has anybody else been kicked off a Jet Airways flights because it was overbooked, and then charged 2, 000 Rs extra to get issued a ticket for another flight? I have. I won’t even comment about Indian Airlines. I would much rather pay less and risk the occasional delay than be robbed blind by companies that provide only marginally better benefits at best.
Air Deccan flight attendants and desk attendants are nice people. Sure, they struggle with trying to maintain quality service within a budget - but I’m not sure how much more people expect. In the end, I believe you end up getting more than what you pay for.
