Sin City.... my my what a movie! Robert Rodriguez has really created a keeper. The movie is , as you all must be knowing by now - based on Frank Millers Sin City. Now here is a guy with vision. The comics where themselves created a while ago and it was unheard of at that time- a comic for the adults. The comics isnt the cheap pornographic crap you get now a days but was a mosaic of passion, crime, hatred and a dash of erotica added in for good measure. The movie star cast is that of a great one and let me tell you after reading all the seven books/comics (correct me if I am wrong) - the actors look exactly like their comic counterparts.
The movie is made colourless to give it the effect of a comic book and the blood is actually yellow but the feel of the movie and the gore is something I havent felt or seen before. Like I said the actors look a lot like their comic counterparts (which would be expected) but then you would agree with me only after you actually managed to lay hands on the comics. Rodriguez has done an excellent job and Frank Miller has assisted him in his directorial duties (who better than him I say).
Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, etc) has directed some of the best scenes in the movie, and through the rest of the movie Rodriguez just goes on to show how well he can make a core commercial film like spy kids to a R rated movie! Of the cast Mickey Rourke is awesome and is probably has the most resemblance to Marv and Benicio Del Toro comes in a close second with Jackie Boy- again you got to read the comics!
The soundtrack is good, the feel is like that of the comics and if you feel you are confused and unable to tie in the movie together I suggest get hold of the comics or wait for the second part to come out. For the guys - this movie is a treat with the gorgeous and curvy Carla Gugino prancing around in the thong (she is the mom in spy kids). Of course it goes without saying that you are better off with a cd or dvd of the movie so that you get can watch the whole of the movie without the Censor cutting off any of the juicy parts.
The soundtrack is great and is really dark and I cant help but think there is some evil in it (trying to be a critique and probably have a cuppa tea and stick out my pinky!) but it is something that you could do without.
The other thing to note here is the camera work and the effects. The movie is expected to live upto to certain expectations as set by the comics and that is a lot of expectations! The movie is looks as if the comics have been animated - the resemblance is almost uncanny. I could go on and on but you cant blame me..... it is that great a movie!
Overall watch this movie -ITS A KEEPER!
