’Sindoor tere naam ka’ is an interesting serial. Mrs Raizada has two sons, the elder Antariksha is handicapped due to an accident in childhood for which she subconsciously holds her younger son Dhruv responsible.
In an angry argument with a friend she vows to get the prettiest wife for Antariksha. She approaches a suitable girl who rejects him for his handicap. This is heard by her cousin Niharika who declares that she finds nothng wrong in Antariksha. Mrs Raizada approaches Niharika’s widowed mother for her hand. Niharika agrees provided the younger brother Dhruv marries her sister Vedika. Mrs Raizada sees the picture of Vedika who is very pretty so she agrees without consulting her son.
Meanwhile Dhruv is in love with a lawyer but to make his mother happy he agrees to marry Vedika At the engagement party Vedika throws tantrums for which she is called ’mad’. Mrs Raizada wishes to beak off the engagement but then this would mean the end of the engagement of Antariksha as well. Antariksha has fallen in love with Niharika and Dhruv sacrifices his love and agrees to marry Vedika of his own free will though everyone else tries to talk him out of it.
Vedika and Dhruv marry but the other couple’s marriage is full of problems as something or the other crops up, mostly Vedika’s outbursts. Vedika has accepted Dhruv as her friend and depends on him for everything, much to the relief of everyone.
When Vedika and Dhruv are away the other couple gets married. Vedika falls down the steps of a temple and she remmbers her past when she had come to the same temple to marry her love. He had gone to the car to get the sindoor when he meets with an accident and dies. Now this present accident makes Vedika rmember her past and she becomes normal but forgets the intervening period when she was mad.
She refuses to accept Dhruv as her husband.
Niharika who is in love with another meets him on her wedding day and later she tries to meet him again.
The story now goes on.... with both couples having marital problems and trying to solve them.
