A touch of class

Extremely impressed on this trip from Melbourne to Delhi via Singapore. Right from check in to arrivals SQ confirmed why people consider them to be the best.

Check in lines in Melbourne were very long but it did move quite quickly and within 10 minutes I was being checked in. Staff was extremely helpful and polite. By the time I reached the gate so I proceeded straight through to the aircraft. The aircraft from Melbourne to Singapore was a brand new B-777-300 with personal tv’s in every seat. Flying economy I was expecting the old cramped seats on the boeing 747 like I had flown earlier on sq but these seats were far bigger and had more roomy legspace. They even had adjustable lumber support and leg room. I was truly impressed as I know how cramped economy class is these days on all international airlines.

In flight service was terrific with stewardesses being polite and attentive. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Catering was terrific with three choices of meals for supper and breakfast. The herbed chicken croussiount was terrific for supper and so was the chicken with noodles.

In flight entertainment was just amazing. We have seen personal tv’s in economy class but SQ seems to have upgraded thier system even more. Now you have a choice of over 40 video channels on demand. That means that its like having a personal video set on your seat. You could start and pause any movie when you liked and couldn even rewind. The selection of games was fabulous so much so that I was awake through most of the flight despite being tired previously.

Ground staff during the transit time in Singapore were helpful and on route to Delhi I was happy to observe that the aircraft was a b-777 again with the same roomy seats and entertainment system. Then cabin crew again was exceptionally friendly and the food was fabulous again.

Overall, Singapore Airlines has made many improvements to thier economy product and it does show. Will most certainly fly them again.

PS: My experience this time was on their newer b-777 aircraft. I have heard from others that seats on thier B-747-400’s have not been upgraded as yet and are still cramped.
