Yup thats exactlyhow ill describe this city... its like a dream. I happened to go there last year with my family and was lucky enough to visit during shopping festival. u know I had a kind of a lavish budget for the trip.....staying in raffles etc... but this is not the case most of the time..so I advice to look for accomodation in place called "LITTLE INDIA". u know its a place full of sri lankans...but called lil india..but staying in this area has its unique advantages > hotels at shoestring rate > a 24 hours mall (mustafa mall) which believe me is crowded even at 3 am and is one of the biggest mall I had ever seen!!!!!!!!!! > u can have indian food (though its horrible compared to our real food) my friend got a twin bedroom unit in little india for 100 S$ per day (1 S$= rs 27 approx) which is a steal by singapore standards..(even indian for that matter) transport is first class in the city. taxis are safe, comfortable and reasonable.....dont spend unnecessarily on hired cars n all. And one more thing which I realized only on my last day.........all taxis cost the same!!!! so mercedes costs same as toyota corolla..... note this. trains and buses are also very comfortable. amongst places to see....the best place is SENTOSA ISLAND..its a place larger than life....thats where that where that famous merlion is there.... I thanked god after I visited sentosa island to make me so lucky........ then there is NIGHT SAFARI , which again a must see.... see the zoo and JURONG BIRD PARK together..note this down... cold drinks are cheaper in malls so buy from there. carrefour mall in suntec city is awesome in rates ..buy chocolates from malls...airport is costly safety wise singapore must be one of the safest..so that shouldnt be a concern..roam all day and shop in mustafa mall at night. the reason for safety is that it is said that if u go to jail in singapore for any reason..u wont come out...so follow all rules religeously buy electronics from sim lim square.....or harvey norman stores...though latter is costlier. so I give this city full marks in accomodation , sightseeing , safety , ease of commuting , shopping.. food could be a problem though......probably more so for vegetarians........... this has turned out to be more like a guide book for first timers.....but u will realize the strength of my tips once u get there.....
