During my visit to Bihar last year I along with my friends visited Sitamarhi. We stayed at Hotel Ashirwad. According to a mythology, Mata Sita was born in an earthen pot under the land of this district, where her father Raja Janak found her while ploughing that land to seek the blessings of Lord Indra, for rain. Raja Janak dug a tank at that place and after the marriage of Sita, he placed the stone figures of Rama, Sita and Lakshman to mark the place.
Later on, an ascetic named Birbal Das, discovered the place and it got recognised as Sitamarhi which is the Sita Temple build 100 yrs ago. The stone statues of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshman are enshrined in the temple. We visited this holy place After that we move towrads Pupri is a village famous for the Baba Nageshwarnath temple of Lord Shiva. Then we visited Bairagnia is a town situated near Motihari where Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned in 1917. Some of the major attractions of this town are the monuments of Ashoka at Lauria Areraj and Ramgarhwa. Overall it was a very holy visit.
