LeAnn Rimess album Sittin On Top Of The World was a big smash for the then 17 year old perfomer!!! Most songs on this record are very good......but there are a few places where the album fell short! The leading single Commitment is one to play time and time again! Looking Through Your Eyes really grabs you as the listener! I often compare Looking Through Your Eyes to somewhat of a song Reba McEntire could have done!!!!! It is beautifully written, and beautifully sung and it is very waltzy!!!!!! I was disappointed with her version of Purple Rain! This song should have not been done by a 17 year old girl for one, much less turned country! Purple Rain is a song nobody in any style of music should touch!!!!!! Nobody, even though LeAnn is good at what she does, should attempt such a Prince classic! LeAnn also fell short with her version of Insensitive, not to mention it was a hit slightly before her cd came out! Her version is too slow, and not to mention she messes up one small line in the song! Again LeAnn was too young to even sing a song of this nature! The rest of the cd is wonderful, and the only time I hit skip on this great cd is when the two re-makes come on! LeAnn didnt have enough singles hit radio from this great cd! Either that is the fault of her then producer and also her father Wilbur Rimes, or maybe Curb Records should be to blame for that mistake!!! If I had to compare anyone to LeAnn on this album, I would most likely say Deborah Gibson, she pulled this off somewhat like Gibson did back in the time of her hype! Great album and lots of great songs minus two!!!!!
