I feel very sorry for all those Rajini rasikas. I also like Rajini, but I expect some kinda logic in the film. I cant accept anything they show on the screen. I think its the feeling of many people after seeing this much hyped movie.
*Whats New?
Its very hard to point out whats new in this movie, infact theres nothing new or fresh about it except for Rajinis new Wig(s).
The story line is more like "Gentleman".
The song picturization resemble the songs from "Anniyan" and "Mudalvan"
Rajinis Chewing gum catching style, has been performed by Jackie Chan, some 10 years back in Armour of God, with out any graphics!
Fights: Again a copy of Matrix. I dont know when tamil cinema is going to come out of this trend.
*Logical Flaws in the movie
*According to me there are lot of logical flaws in this movie.
First of all, Rajini in one of his dialogues say that he hailed from a poor agriculture family, and went to america and worked as a "Software Architect". We dont know, if he was a freelancer, a consultant or a entrepreneur. Whatever it is, I feel its very very difficult(Im not saying impossible) to make so much of money being a NRI.(Comments from NRI, especially Software Architect are most welcome here.).
Second, the villain is so very powerful, that he changes a state government over a phone call, but fears Rajini, when he threatens to handover the documents to the Income Tax authorities. Being such a greedy and poweful villiain, can even recover the documents from IT office or can even destroy those evidence or come out of the case, instead of giving money to Sivaji. We all know how long it takes for a case to end, and sometimes with change of government, people forget even much talked about cases, such as "Salem Jayalakshmi", "Ganja Serena", "Jayendrar" etc.
Three, is what were the pro-villain government doing, when Sivajis Office gang was threatening and beating up the people to bring out the black money. Not even one person went and complained this to the police, or to the government officials or even to the Villain, who should have been watching Sivajis moves closely. Why not they tried to stop that?
Four, we all know CPR is only a first aid, its logical in the begining of the movie that a doctor on the spot of accident saved a life of a boy using CPR. But I wonder if the same will work for a person, beaten up by the police, electricuted by a high voltage wire and declared dead by a govt medical practioner and taken in a police van several miles outside the city and then transfered to the ambulance and then rescued, using a slightly improved CPR mehtod!?! Only doctors can comment about the possibility of such things. But I strongly believe that its impossible.
Fifth and the biggest flaw is that, Sivaji escapes from the Villains after making them believe that he is dead, returns as MGR. When doubted and questioned by police, MGR produces his passport, Greencard!?!(how the hell he managed to get that one so soon and that too for a person who never exist?!?), credit cards issued by US Banks etc etc. to prove him as MGR and not Sivaji. And TN police straight away will believe all those evidence:-). The director must be thinking that a Greencard is something simillar to a Visiting Card, that anybody can print and use.
*Funniest Part!
I really feel sorry for Rajini here, because he was made to act like "Sivaji Ganesan", "MGR" and "Kamal" which remided me off the famous vijay tv program "Kalakka povadu yaaru?"
Shankars direction has lost its freshness. This movie is more of a masala mix of many of his previous movies. Even the jokes are not new. He would be better off to picturise 5 songs and release them as VCD with title "Shankars Oliyum Oliyum"
Saddest part is that Solomon Paapaiyas characted. He should have avoided such characters, its degrading his image.
The movie is big hype, but I honestly feel that it didnt live up to its reputation. Inspite of all this, I want the movie to be a success, otherwise it would cause a very big loss for its producers and other people associated.
