I know I have not been around for a long time, but this time, I am back with a bang on the latest blockbuster movie.. SHIVAJI - THE BOSS (Telugu Version). I live in mumbai and hence getting tickets of this movie in PVR, Mulund was not a big problem. Now, let move on the with the review on the movie.
As Usual even this movie opened with the Movie Name and Title, but here the background music scored by A.R. Rehman was totally unimpressive. The introduction of Rajnikanth in this movie was totally unimpressive, but soon after starts a Flash back. Here the Shivaji (Rajni) has earned some really smart bucks from USA (250 crores) and wants to use this money to open a university and hospital as socail service to the country.
The goons are against it and place all kinds of hurdles to stop his project. In the meanwhile hero also falls in love with Shirya. After he is completely broken down financially by Adi Kesavan (Suman), he decides to take revenge and realise his dream.
INTERMISSION
The 2nd half starts off with a zoom and some capturing shots, after a while movie takes a little twist with shivaji planning to have many more institutes and hospitals all across india. For this, he plans to use the BLACK MONEY of all the corrupt officers in india. Once he realises his dreams, villian makes their ultimate blow by getting him arrested (on crime of using the BLACK MONEY without returning it to the GOVT). Then comes the climax, which is the highlight of the movie.
Overall, a must watch movie and a complete family entertainer.
Impressive
A) Rajni shines with his timely comedy and varied acting skills
B) The huge sets in the songs and a great production value
C) Shriya nicely enacts the role of a simple traditional girl
D) Vivek is impressive as Rajni’s Uncle
E) Various looks of Rajni are good
F) Manish Malhotra does a good work in dressing up Rajni kanth, Some of his suits are really in VOGUE
UnImpressive
A) Background Score and Music of Shivaji
B) Lyrics of the songs
C) Direction by shankar was good but not captivating, for example:- Rajni wants the DJ in hotel to play a traditional music and the next scene we see him on the top of a mountain dancing to a folk traditional song. Is there any connection to the DJ in hotel to the outdoor location.. totally out of sync
One thing, which everyone will miss in this movie would be some of the oneliners or message oriented dialogues which most of the RAjni movie have.
As a Package, this movie comes with a good production value, great performances, nice story, direction and an ever green Rajni :-)
