I have never driven a Skoda Fabia. But I have seen it and have sat in it. This review is all about my first impression about Skoda Fabia.
Skoda had displayed an Octavia and Fabia in front of my office few weeks ago and during lunch break I went to take a look at the Fabia.
Appearance:
Overall it looked to me very similar to Maruti Swift.
Interior:
Nothing great about it. The version(I dont remember which version it is) I saw had two tone dashboard, with black and beige colors. That looked different but can never call it class. The beige color according to me was too light. Seat fabric looked okay. There was nothing great to talk about the interiors. Maybe theres a lot of features for the car.
*Seating:
*I adjusted the driver seat to my height and comfort. The driving position looked extremely good. Keeping the driver seat in the same position, I sat at the rear seat. My knee was touching the back of driver seat. I was really upset with that.
Whats next?
The look of the car was good, but not outstanding, the interior wasnt anything fabulous and the rear seating wasnt comfortable. I didnt think of even trying to know more about the car.
When I got down from the car, the sales exec gave me a leaflet which had the prices of each version. He showed me the price of the version that was kept on display. For a moment my eyes poped out.
*Price:
*Close to 8 lakhs(smiles)
Though I didnt have any idea of buying the car, still 8 lakhs literally spinned my head. Its the cost of a Ford Fiesta Diesel.
I was really thinking what difference does it make to me if I buy this car? Im sure people who think twice about spending their money would think of better options. Maybe its for people who earns their living using others money. If Skoda is trying to create a status or a different sect of people, Im sure people are not that dump to make mistakes.
My sincere advise to anyone who think of buying this car would be - Please dont buy something hearing the marketing executives talk. Please dont get carried away by advertisements. Anyone who has that kind of money to spend can buy a Fiesta/City/Aveo which serves many purposes as well as distinguishes their status as well.
And over all these, we could imagine how expensive the maintenance could be when compared to other cars - because its a Skoda:).
If I had around 8 lakhs to spend for a car, I would go for a Maruti Swift or Swift Dzire VDi and spend the rest of the money gradually in going for family trips with the car, or, buy a Ford Fiesta/Honda City/Aveo/Tavera/Safari.
Good Luck.
