I own a Skoda Yeti Elegance 4x4 since October 2012.Since I already have a Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi from 2005 the decision to go for a second Skoda was easy and I have no regrets.The excellent reviews about Skoda Yeti especially the Jeremy Clarkson video review in BBC Topgear reinforced my decision to buy this SUV .After numerous test drives from M/S Vision Skoda Trichur I decided to go for this suv, and I was very impressed by their salesperson Mr Krishnakumar who was instrumental in my decision and continues to offer very good post sales followup.I had also considered the Toyota Fortuner and XUV 500 prior to my purchase .
I like the high driving position, smooth gear shifts and rock steady drive at high speeds in the Yeti.There is no nauseating body roll unlike other more popular SUVs.The car inspires good confidence at high speeds and the presence of safety features like six airbag, ABS, EBD, TCS, hill hold etc inspires lot of confidence.The vehicle gives good mileage of 15-16 kmpl in combined city and highway drives.The compact size and tight turning circle is very useful in our crowded cities.Overtaking is a joy and the 140 BHP 2 litre diesel engine provides ample power on highways.The climatronic dual zone a/c does a good job of maintaining comfortable temperature even in hot summer.The music system with six cd changer is good but lack of ipod connectivity and satnav is inexcusable.In fact Skoda Elegance 4x4 has most of the features of the more expensive Audi Q3 except auto transmission and sun roof.
This car is certainly a niche product appealing to discerning customers and Skoda India should promote it more aggresively in print and electronic media .Skoda should also have priority counters for Yeti customers with their dealers.
