Poverty exposed - like it or not, it is the fact!

Ray of hope amidst abject poverty. Some are lucky, they and realize dreams due to sheer luck. Call it energy. Slumdog Millionaire is one such movie. Brilliantly narrated - full credit to the director. In fact it was taken from Vikas Swarup’s novel Q&A (2005). They movie is quite interesting enough till the end, taking us through the popular TV show ’Who wants to be a millionaire’ format, woven around a Mumbai’s slum life.

All along, a typical slum life is elaborated - the poverty, filth, exploitation, crime, ignorance, hopeless, despair, betrayal etc etc. Almost all spheres of life. India’s poverty is exposed 100%. at the same time, it has brilliant energy that we see around - street smart, energetic, innocent childres unaware of the unfair life they are leading. One such story, of Jammal Malik, is a lucky one.

Poverty of a slum wala. A story by well known author. A director from the west, along with his team from outside world. Big actors, world famous music director. Big box office hit. Lot of money! You watch and give your share and make these big guys bigger. how I wish it brings some awareness among the poor dwelling in slums and see outside world!

Nevertheless, rich will become richer, through movies, box office, awards, oscars etc. Will it help the poor? Will they have fair share? Will it bring some awareness? I hope so.Should India crave for Oscars? Is this the best movie shot in India? I dont think so. Why slum "DOG" Mr Boyle?

There were equally eligible candidates in the past, present and will be there in future also. Perhaps, unless it is directed/produced by people from outside India, perhaps it will not make it Oscars ever.
