Is it just my opinion that the West only cherishes filth and poverty in India? Started with Satyajit ray and continued with a host of other Indians in the West making movies or writing books. It is a given that movies depicting prostitution, caste prejudices and sexual inequalities in India will be showcased as general realities of india.
These exist in various forms and shades in the West but never are depicted as such to movie goers in India. Why cant an entertainment organization show similar realities in Western countries to audiences in India? There are bizzarre events that regularly occur in the West - rattlesnake hunt and snake cooking in Texas, squirrel eating by presidental candidates and many more!
What a disgusting movie and script. The majority of dialogue was laden with expletives and the story could notpull itself out of the gutters.
I am not surprised that the West found it fit to shower with Oscars unlike "Lagaan" - an uplifting story.
The cast was good and I did like the "Jai Ho" song - other than that save your money and skip the video rental fee.
If you would like to compare this with a western similar movie - contrast it with an Officer and Gentleman - and you ill see the difference in depiction between the two.
