This was my second visit since July.
I wanted to treat my friends to a sumptuous birthday lunch without my pocket grumbling.
On the previous visit I wasnt paying much attention to the menu or prices and so I was apprehensive. I was contemplating picking one of the usual Chinese buffet places but all the restaurants(STRANGELY) hike up their prices by nearly 25% on weekends . with almost no difference in the menu
My friend insisted on Smoke House Deli at Bandra on the Ambedkar road, so thats where we head.
Our order was a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. which are cooked in European style gravies or baked.
SHD is a quaintly designed place with lovely white walls hand-sketched in black marker pens, old photographs, floral table-cloths, cushions, curtains and even lampshades. One feels one has stepped into an Italian little bistro!
We were offered bread baskets, bread sticks and butter to keep us munching while we placed the order
Our food order started with juices and mojitos and jumped to the main course and then desserts. There are some nice salads, starters and soups(which we skipped) and for people who arent too hungry, a grilled sandwich and soup combo is possible with lots to choose from
Whether it was the apple mojito, the spaghetti, the omelette or the penne in arrabiata sauce. it was well cooked, aromatic and nicely flavoured and in sufficient portions for us to enjoy.
The 2 staff attending to us were smiling and happy to serve. even going to the extent of one of them( Taarak) turning a piece of tissue paper into a delicate white rose for the "birthday girl"(:-))
A couple of desserts which we ordered were disappointingly not ready for the day so we picked other options . which were yummmmmmy!
With a bunch of 10 of us and our assorted orders, the final billing, WITHOUT ALCOHOL was(naturally) slightly on the upper side, but it left us totally DELI-ghted with our afternoon there!
Will I go there again - YESSSS!
