I didnt know much about this hospital before my mother-in-law was admitted into this hospital. I must say it was a very pleasant experience to find such a wonderful hospital in the heart of Mumbai. At 70 beds, the hospital is right size - neither too small, nor too big.
This hospital is located in the heart of Mumbai - right next to Kingcircle railway station near Matunga circle & Sion Hospital at Gandhi Market. It is conveniently located.
My mother-in-law was warded at this hospital for 17 days for angiography, urine infection and bypass surgery. She is old(74) and frail - she recovered very well due to the excellent treatment provided by the hospital.
The Consultants who treated my mother-in-law were - Cardiac surgeon Dr. Shripal Doshi & Cardiologists Dr. Jagdish Parikh & Dr. Daruwala.
My mother-in-law had extended stay due to urine infection. The hospital didnt have in-house Urologist but they arranged to get one of the Urologist on panel from outside and help bring urine infection under control before the CABG to minimize risk to my mother-in-law.
At no point in time we felt that we were either overcharged, given unnecessary procedures / medicines or not given good medical care. Everything about this hospital is right. The Doctors are highly skilled professionals with many years of experience and yet very approachable, the management is excellent - the hospital is managed by a CEO, Mr. Sharma who is ex-Navy and the staff including nurses and other support staff are very helpful.
The billing is very transparent. The rates are very reasonable and in fact thats the reason I understand that insurance companies sanction cashless payment for treatment at this hospital(my mother-in-law did not have any insurance though) more readily than other private hospitals where overcharging is rampant.
Even the pharmacy at this hospital is very nice - not only they are well stocked(so that all medicines are available) but their rates are reasonable. For quite a few medicines we were charged much below MRP with discount(without even asking) as we were told by the pharmacy owner that the hospital management is very particular about cost of medicines.
The food provided to the patient(vegetarian) is nice too and my mother-in-law had an overall good experience with this hospital. The hospital has a small canteen at basement where vegetarian food & snacks is available at reasonable rates for the patients relatives & visitors.
This hospital is managed by a trust which is headed by philanthropist Mr. Manubhai Shah of Ruby Mills. As compared to other private hospitals this hospital is much better because the objective of the hospital is to provide quality medical care at reasonable rate and not for profit maximization for its shareholders.
Another good thing that I liked about this hospital is that it provides cardiac and orthopedic treatment for poor patients(who cant even afford already reasonable rates) at a deep discount. I understand hospital services 30 to 40 such cases every month.
If I were to spend my money on medical treatments, I rather spend at such hospitals who I think are doing wonderful service to the society.
