I have been a ardent follower of most of the daily deal sites in India. Being in Bangalore I have the luxury of trying out most of these players ( as anyone and everyone of the deal sites have presence in Bangalore). Over time I have discovered that when it comes to quality of deals, timeliness and freshness of site, Snapdeal is miles ahead of the rest.
Though I had a couple of bad experiences but it was primarily due to the bad service at the vendor end - and I had similar experiences with deals from other deal a day sites. So I wouldn’t bring the vendor side experience and bias the review - as I have started to believe that the deal a day sites have little control over the service levels at the vendors locations. Of course step motherly treatment for holding a discount coupon is non tolerable ( and the deal a day sites should blacklist these vendors if reported).
On an apples to apples comparison here are the reasons why I would recommend Snapdeal
The site has a neat layout, fast load time and is to the point
The deals are updated everyday, so there is a freshness every morning, unlike sites where one has to wait for days to get a new deal
With the localized deals the options have just multiplied on Snapdeal, and I can quickly know the deals that are relevant for me
Payment gateway has sometimes been an issue - every time I enter my card details I chew off half my nails in anticipation of the next message that the ’vast unknown’ will throw out - but guess this is a problem we need to survive with given the payment gateway infrastructure in India
I would rate the customer service 4 on 5. They have been very helpful whenever I reached out except for this one instance where the rep ( a new guy) was clueless on how he could help.
Deal wise they have a good mix of categories and sufficient depth when it comes to categories like restaurants and beauty services
net net I think snapdeal is definitely worth a try ... well how long can you resist that urge to take a dip in that great discount stream.
