Poor Refereeing in World Cup

I write this as I watch Ecuador play Germany and after watching Togo play Switzerlan and other matches of Ghana , Ivory coast and other African and little known nations play with European teams .At least I felt that the refereeing was biased against these new teams playing in the World Cup and especially those from Africa .

For instance Togo had a very bad day yesterday with some deserving fouls against them not given red cards against. Even a clean foul inside the penalty area by Switzerland could not help Togo get a penalty shot. On the contrary , the referees have been liberal in giving players of these countries yellow and red cards.

Another facet was that most of these guys dont seem to know how to act/ overact feigning injury when the opponents come near unlike most European teams who seem to incorporate this as a major part of their strategy. The refreeing in this World Cup to me seems to be very average and worser I get a nagging feeling that it is biased.

Even the off side calls are debatable but I feel that it happens in footbll often so I wont dwell more on that.

While the World Cup has been a goal fest , I feel that this attitude undermines our enthusiasm for the event. After all if the screws are tightened such that some teams have a btter chance than others then this is not really a ’world cup’ in that sense.

This is the sense I got on seeing the event so far - would like all your reactions to see if you agree or disagree with me.
