I was actually wondering where did I see this name ’Someplace Else’. And then I recalled that it is the Park Hotel Bar at Delhi. Well, honestly I have had one of the best drink sessions at the place.
The usual time of course would be a Sat. late afternoon when all (4-5) of us would swarm the place -- it is rarely a problem getting a place since the crowd moves to the inner circle at CP (Volga, Host, Zen and Nirulas Peagasus are the favorite)
I have had tried beer most of the times and the juices, if I am not drinking. But instead of the juices, I would recommend the cocktails / mocktails here -- they do it excellent, especially the Blue Lagoon and the Bloody / Virgin Mary.
Amongst the appetisers, go in for the Kebabs and Drum stics (i hope I got the name write) while
the veggies, no particular pref.
The video screen is large enough for a view from the farthest end also. I like the sitting arrangement in particular at SPE, -- it allows everyone to have a decent view of the Bar. And the tables though not very large in size are arranged in well defined manner to allow for group sittings -- the sofa chairs are also comfortable. The center (this becomes a dance floor on weekends) expands the hall into medium size and allows for space for everyone.
During my last visit, I noticed they had redone the entire thing -- however, I thought the decor was no better.
The discouraging feature of late was the hike in prices for the drinks which I hear has put off a lot of my friends. But I am sure I am not going to be discouraged by that -- next time I am in Delhi, shall make it a point to visit the place.
And one last thing, I also got lost first time -- do not enter the hotel to get into the bar. Go to the left of the hotel from outside and you will find the place.
Recommended strongly.
