Something Something - Sugar Coated

Let me start off saying that I have become a big fan of Trisha. She looks ravishing these days and its literally impossible to take eyes off her.... I dedicate this review to Trisha

Story: Remake of the telugu blockbuster "Nuvvostanante Nenodantana" (what a big title!). The original starred Trisha in the same role, directed by Prabudeva. In this movie, the heroine’s brother dotes on her and is very protective, something like Arbaaz Khan in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. The heroine has a friend who is getting married and the heroine goes to Chennai. Enters the hero who is a family friend of the heroine’s friend. Hero and heroine meet, have some naughty banter and then fall in love. Hero’s mom doesnt approve of it. Hero escapes everyone and goes to the heroine’s brother to ask for the heroine’s hand. But he doesnt approve and sets condition for the successful winning of the hero. How the hero fulfills the conditions and wins the heroine is the story

Direction: Remake Raja doesnt deserve much praise because he has only done remakes. Only when he does a straight original film will I ever respect and rate him. A remake is fine, but surviving only on remakes is foolish!

Cast: Good performances by almost all except tejashree. She is really poor in this film. I dont like to see that Kadhal villian onscreen. He looks ugly. Lollu Sabha is OK, Manivannan is average, Cochin Haniffa does a good job, Geetha is good, Richa Pallod is good, Bagyaraj is very good

Prabu: A really good role that has landed in Prabu’s lap. He does justice to the role. He shows from which family he comes by the way he acts. Appadiya Shivaji style in some scenes! He gets to do some fights which is good (I used to love Prabu as a hero, he was really an under rated hero).

Ravi: I heard Siddu (Siddarth) did really well in telugu, but I dont find Ravi incompetent. he does well here too, and plays an extrovert character with ease. His chemistry with trisha is very good.. Dancing wise, he is good. Acting wise, he passes off. His voice is a deterrent.

Trisha: WOW. Apart from the first scene where she was overacting, she did a really good job. One of the best characters that she has got in a Tamil movie and she utilises it very well. Should prove to be a career boost for her in Tamil as she was seeing flops these days. Dances really well in the movie. Shares a very good chemistry with Ravi. In some scenes, imitates Jothika but that looked cute when Trisha imitated her.

Overall: A family entertainer with some minor glitches. Can watch it with family. Can watch some scenes more than once!
