Son Of Sardar – Everything is Loud & Overdone.

Son Of Sardar – Everything is Loud & Overdone.

Comedy & action combined together is a hit formula & the South remakes seem to be providing that to the Bollywood film makers. In fact every producer, director & actor wants to attempt a remake. After remaking Tamil super hit Singham, Ajay Devgan is back with Son of Sardar. This film is the remake of Telugu film Maryada Ramanna,

For a Long Time we have been witnessing Comedies which are brainless & Son Of Sardar is one such movie which entertains the audiences as long as they don’t search for story and logic.

Plot :

Son of Sardar is the story of Ajay Devgn (Jassi) who returns to his village from UK to sell his ancestral property. At the Railway station Jassi meets Sonakshi Sinha (Sukhmeet) & falls in love. Jassi finally ends up as a guest in Sukhmeet’s house. Unfortunately Sukhmeet’s uncle Sanjay Dutt (Billu Paaji) & his brothers Mukul Dev (Tony) & Vindoo Dara Singh (Tito) were searching Jassi from past twenty five years to take the revenge. The rest of the movie is all about the revenge tale, and how Jassi tries to avoid going out of the house for the fear of getting killed by the Sandhus.

In Son of Sardar every actor tries too hard to be funny and the effort shows in every scene & it only ends up being a poor joke rather than a genuine laugh riot. The film has a wafer-thin plot & most scenes are stretched little longer. The makers have tried too hard to make the scenes funny.

Performances :

Ajay Devgn shines in his role and breathes life into his character with electrifying stunts & good comic timing. He has tried to bring in some changes in his acting style to suit the sardar character.

Sanjay Dutt is in comfort zone with action & comedy, but his dialogue delivery was almost similar in all most all situations.

Sonakshi who plays Ajay Devgn’s love interest gives a good performance and does what is required of her. Juhi Chawla is impressive. Her comic timing is fabulous. Rest of the supporting characters is made to go over the top or slip into buffoonery.

Direction & Technical Aspects :

Ashwani Dhir, I appreciate his direction in his very first movie ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ but this time Ashwani Dhir’s direction is just above average, he misses the punch required to make the audiences sit and get glued to the screens with interest quotient.

Himesh Reshamiya has given some foot tapping music which is contemporary & entertaining. Two songs ‘Rani Tu Mai Raja’ by Mika Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh & song Po Po sung by Vikas Bhalla, Aman Trikha & Himesh Reshammiya, are best & another romantic song ‘Bichdann’ sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is good composition in the soundtrack.

Script by Robin Bhattt & Ashwin Dhir fails to maintain consistency from start to end & specially post-interval, the screenplay gets boring. Action by Jai Singh Nijjar is good, but some fighting sequences are overdone. Dialogues by Ashwin Dhir are well written. Cinematography by Aseem Bajaj is brilliant.

Final Verdict :

Overall film is a good entertainer & works for the audience who doesn’t mind a weak script and senseless comedy. A fun watch, if that is all that is wanted from a film. Just turn off your brain for a few hours and enjoy.
