When Sony’s launches A7 3 in 2018, I got one for myself and still in 2020 it really worth it.
It has all features that one should except so let’s dig into it setp by step
First build quality it has magnesium built which feels very rigid in hands and it has well designed grip which made for peoples who has medium size hands.
Buttons layout is well placed it has 3 dials for mode, exposure, one ISO and Shutter Speed. Also it has 3 customization buttons labeled as c1, c2 and c3 those you can programmed accordingly.
Now let’s talk about picture quality and videos
Sony puts its own 24.2P 35mm Full-Frame CMOS sensor with back illumination design. With Sony E-mount lenses which allows wide ranges of lenses from Sony own’s GM series or from sigma.
It shoots JPEG and Sony RAW which are 24MP stills with Sony’s grates color science. Basically I don’t use it for stills that much.
Now in video department, it can record 4k 30fps /24fps and it has one of the best 4k in the market as it shoots 6k internally and downscale to 4k. It can shoot 1080p 24/30/60fps and my own favorite 120fps at 1080p and it has lot of picture profiles options like S-Log2, S-Log3, HLG and HLG1-3 for high dynamic range.
Let’s talk about auto focus Sony has one of the best auto focus system in market it so reliable that I will put it on continuous AF and it do its things it implements Eye AF with Face AF that’s with object AF .
it has 693 AF phase detection AF points and 425 contrast detection points.
It has 100-51200 ISO for Stills and it can expand up to 204800.
For movie 100-51200 and which can expand up to 102400.
It can shoots grate footage up to 6400 in my testing but above
that things start getting grainy and camera adds smoothing to footage.
It has shutter speed of 1/8000 of sec on high end and has bulb mode for astrophotography
It also has EVF which I don’t use much as I use my A7 III for videos most of time but it has very good touch screen which has good brightness levels to see in direct sunlight as well. And it is flip up screen and has hot shoe mount as well.
It has decent built in microphone which is stereo and has support for wifi, blutooth and nfc to control it via imaging edge app.
It has Mini HDMI port for external monitor like atomos, microphone jack for external mic input and usb type c 3.1 gen port.
Battery life on this camera is decent but my suggestion is to use battery grip on this. and it don’t has over heating issue but it tend to get warm up in bright sunny day
This is best camera from Sony if you into professional photography or cinematography.
