To complete the interior of my new house I needed a 32 inch LCD tv. After much research work done by us and opinions from our friends, we zeroed down at Sony Bravia. Not going by the brand name, but our research work showed us that this is the best option available in the market. After consulting the Sony website, we decided to buy a Ex 400 model. It had all the features we were looking for. We decided to buy it from Croma, Koramangala as nice discounts were available there. Last Saturday, we went to select and book our tv there.
We got the pleasant surprise that they were offering KLV-32NX500 at the price of KLV-32EX400. We already compared these two products before. All the features of that 400 model were present in the 500 model, plus some 6 degree tilt could be possible in the later one. That means you can rotate the tv at your desired angle without dismantling it.
We already knew about this product, then also listened to the demonstration of the product carefully. It is fully HD, 1920*1080 resolution, has CCFL backlight (why should I pay extra for the LED backlight? That makes minimum difference). The viewing angle is 178 degree. With Bravia engine 3 and Intelligent picture facility, the viewing becomes an absolute delight. It has MPEG noise reduction which is necessary while watching videos. You can plug in your PC to this and watch movies in the bigger screen. The USB hub is located at the back. One thing only wasnt up to the mark, I noticed that. In spite of Sony original surrounding sound system, the sound quality wasnt that better. I felt, it was far superior in our previous TV. However, I came to know if extra sound boxes are added it will improve.
The LCD panel had monolithic design, which is nothing but the front panel is completely covered with glass. That reduces the dust accumulation on the panel and provides safety to the screen. Cable and Set-top-box ports are at the back, so quite invisible. At the right side of the tv, the manual operating buttons are there at the back. Other features like Bravia synchronization, sleep timer (This is necessary, my hubby always dozes off keeping the TV on!) , 24p true cinema etc. are also available in this model.
Our another concern was power consumption..... anyhow we didnt want to increase the electricity bill anymore! We got relieved to know that its only 109W while operating, and the audio input should be 20W. Well, enough of technical info, i didnt want these anymore! We booked the TV on the same day, and it was delivered to our place in less than 24 hrs. Along with this we got an Airtel HD DTH connection for just one rupee (we had to pay 1000 Rs. extra at the time of installation). However, we were satisfied with our Dishtv DTH connection, therefore cancelled the new one. The TV was able to give clear pictures with even SD connection, as it recognize and operate in both HD and SD connections. Only 3 channels were available as HD, others would be normal SD, then whats the use of taking the pain of new installation?
The installation and demo were performed yesterday. The person came for this work was, however, a lil bit inexperienced I felt. The way he was checking the installation brochure and was handling the TV very roughly, I became scared. I liked the TV, I didnt want it to be damaged even before being started. However, the phase got over soon, and we were able to view the magnificent pictures. Channels like discovery, Animal Planet, Nat Geo, etc. looked just great. I am quite satisfied with the picture quality. Now let me see how it works in the long run. Till then, Good bye, have a nice day.
