Sony Cybershot DSC-P73

One of the latest cybershots, for RO 83-95 (Rs 9365-10720), it’s a steal.

The Good:

Has a Super HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD for superb quality pix.

It has 4.106 effective megapixels (4.231 gross megapixels).

It has a 3X optical zoom as well as 10X smart zoom. Also in the ’’zooming’’ factor is the 6X precision digital zoom.

The cam is fitted with a standard Sony lens ( not Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar/ Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar lens).

Maximum image size is 2304X1728 (4 MP).

Pix are taken in JPEG/MPEG formats. The cam uses MS, MS PRO, MS DUO and MS PRO DUO (with DUO adapters).

It can be connected to a TV (AUDIO MONO only).

It connects to a PC with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed. This is also used to connect to the PictBridge.

There is a 6 mode scene selection (Twilight/Twilight Portrait/Landscape/Soft Snap/Candle/Beach).A new feature is the MPEG Movie VX video recording facility where high quality movies can be recorded continuously ( VX Fine = 640X480, 30fps2, VX Standard = 640X480, 16.6fps2).

There is a burst mode where multiple shots can be takes @ 4 shots/0.9 sec.

Another useful feature is the MACRO (capability of taking close up images).

Macro = W:10cm to infinity

T:50cm to infinity

An optical view finder is one feature that is present that I dont find useful.

The LCD is a 1.5’’ TFT.

A 10 sec timer helps in taking photos of a group including yourself.

The Bad:

No zoom while taking movies.

No slide show for viewing pix.

Cannot add voice clips to still pix.

Common ;-)

The Ultimatum:

Since this camera is one beautiful pice of art by SONY, JUST GO FOR IT.
