The Sony DSC-H1 Digital Camera has to be one of the best Digitals on the market. My experience has been nothing short of great! I now have a picture on my desk top computer that I really like. Why because I took the picture.
Lets get down to the basics on this camera. The manuel supplied with this camera is easy to understand, but the quick fast read me first pamphlet makes pulling this camera out of the box and using it and getting great pictures right off a great idea by Sony.
The picture package v1.6 for windows the main image viewing application is ok. Basic items required, this could be improved upon by Sony.
There have been compliants about the camera being a little too bulky myself I have small hands so its a dream for me. I have not found it bulky at all and the buttons are well placed for single hand shooting. And some have said the weight is a little high, however I like a camera with a little weight considering it is not a lot of weight in the hand to begin with. Weight tells me well put together with sturdy parts and good workmanship and a lot less plastic items. Remember the lens is glass and a 12X optical zoom adding a little weight to the camera.
Over all appearance of this camera is a eye catcher. The black and silver gives off the appearance of a rich, expensive camera but in truth is reasonable at its price for what the camera is capable of doing.
The large 2.5 LCD is big, a great added plus to this camera. Buttons are easy to find just large enough for the average finger. The pop up flash on top of the camera works like a charm.
The memory card unfortunately has to be purchased separately, this seems to be the rule of thumb for most digital camera makers now a days. In truth Sony should show the world that they are tops in the world of digital camera and include a 128 mb/256 mb memory for the camera.
The 12Xoptical zoom lens brings that special wild life picture to life. The clarity of the pictures is superior to some cameras I have seen on the market lately. The camera compares right up there with the more expensive camera for picture taken ease, and clarity. From thumb nail pictures to 8 by 10s this camera does it all. From bright days on the ocean or snow filled mountains to darkness this camera takes the picture and does it extremely well. The no red eye all I can say is great job Sony. Movie mode is something I did not think I would use, but it came in handy once so far and I must admit was delighted with the mule deer running full out across a field.
The Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H1 is an excellent ultra zoom camera. Over all go out and buy this camera you will not be sorry you did.
