I brought one for my frnd in India. I was not interested initially when he asked for Sony. Some how I was thinking Sony is not good in the digital camera. And other thing Sony is quite expensive compared to other brands.
But he insisted me to buy only that. Then I decided to check the price online. I could not believe the price. It was 259.95$ at circuit city. I could not believe as I was not expecting Sony 5 Mega pixel camera only for 260$????? Man, Nikon cost the same. Well I am not saying Nikon is bad.
As staples was very near to our motel, I decided to buy it . And before that, I wanted to see its size and weight. I visited staples, staples did not had demo piece. Since, I had not choice but to buy it I asked the staple guy to check its price.
When he checked the price, I could not believe it!!!! It was just 199.50$, a 5 mega pixel, Sony camera at 199.50$. I did not say any word and just brought it. Guys, incase if you are thinking of buying it, go to staples, they have damn cheap price. They also gave me digital photography startup kit which costs 50$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my other frnd brought Nikon Coolpix 5600 for 250$ from circuit city a month back. We compared its feature with Sony Cybershot. Sony was the best. Here are some comparisons.
Color contrast cyber shot was very good compared to Nikon Coolpix
Flash is quite good compared to Nikon, where cyber picked up right colors compared to Nikon. Also, when Nikon uses flash, it generates too much of light, which hurts the eye. Cyber was good it generates only as much as needed.
Cyber does not use AA battery where as Nikon uses it. But the battery life of Nikon is not good. If you use flash and if you use AA cells, it captures the picture and will switch off immediately. It is kind of scary.
Battery life of Cyber is very good. I was able to take more than 50 pictures and 5 big videos when I charged it first time only for an hour.
Cyber sound clarity is very good in movies
Stores movies in MPEG format compared to Nikon, which stores in Quick movie format. Which I hate…..
Startup time of Cyber is very less.
Cyber is less expensive, affordable.
Compact. But I did not like its shape, I loved Nikon’s shape. Some how I feel cybershot looks outdated.
Cyber is very good at red eye reduction (not compared with Nikon)
Viewfinder is very good, but Nikon’s is equally good.
User friendly and same with Nikon
Auto focus is quick and good compared to Nikon
After the price and feature comparison, I decided to buy one for me too :)
