What can I say.....I wanted a great cam for filming great moments. I also forked out 199.00 for an extended warranty. When you having moving parts, expect parts to fail within a year if you are a heavy user. My last model (DCR-VX1000) did not require any service. I beat that camera up (not on purpose) and it held up. With the features and specifications this camera has, you can’t go wrong. I have footage that looks like it was taken by a professional.
