Facts:
Clear, high-resolution display, clicking pictures works good, but movie clips look lousy.
MP3 and MPEG4 playback is really appreciable for a phone this size.
For people like me who don’t care for an FM radio or a bluetooth capability in a phone, but do require a camera, MP3 and MPEG4 support, this is a really good bet.
The k508i has exactly the same features as that in k500i, but with better looks.
DO NOT buy the data cable (the actual price of the branded cable varies between 2200 and 2700, as per my research at Pune and Mumbai, while a local made cable can be obtained for ~550.
ALL the functionalities of the data cable can be done with an IR (Infra-red) port on your laptop / PC. If it doesn;t have one, a USB IR device costs 450. Get one...!
Do download the Sync station and file manager from the sony-ericsson website.
Sync through MS Outlook is a relief, giving freedom from vendor-proprietary databases!
The file manager gives you an extremely easy ’’drag-and-drop’’ option for loading MP3’s, MPEG4 files to your phone. The IR transfer takes longer than the data cable, though.
In all, a good bet for Rs. 10000 (paid by credit card too...!!)
