I got hooked on Sony when my family first gifted me a Sony J70 phone almost five years ago. With a jog dial, voice recorder, WAP-enabled internet browser, data modem capability, and other features, it was way ahead of most phones then. One reason why I decided to get a new phone was that my job related responsibilities were increasing and I needed a phone that could sync with my Outlook via USB/Data Cable/Infrared. I started out with four devices in mind - Nokia 6600, 6630, 7610 and the Sony Ericsson K500i. And after more than a week of comparing features, prices, and market reviews, I discovered and settled for the Sony Ericsson K700i. And now Ill come straight to the point. Outlook connectivity - Excellent! I have not missed a single meeting since the phone now tracks all my appointments. Phone Book - Great! The amount of information you can store for each contact is mind boggling. However, I feel having the option of viewing only either phone memory or SIM memory for contacts is a bit cumbersome. Java Application support - Mind boggling! Ive a few applications set up, including the Holy Bible. Speakerphone/Call Clarity - Faultless! I love the clarity that this phone enables. Just like someone else has written - you can hear the whispers in the background. Memory - Disappointing! No memory card support and only 41 MB of memory available to you. But, mind you, 41 MB can be a lot! Other features I did not really want, but a phone this expensive provides: MP3 player - Fantastic! I love music on-the-go. I did not know this had an MP3 player till I signed my credit card receipt. The first thing I did was check it out - and was overjoyed. The MP3 player has graphic equalizers too, automatically cuts off (pauses) when a call comes in, and then just picks up where it left off. FM Radio - Will probably tell you more when we have Radio Mirchi in Hyderabad. Camera / Video - I dont know. I never judge a phone by its camera-ability. I have a Kodak 6.1 MP camera, and will use that when I need to take a picture. The camera on the phone is not too bad, though. The battery for this particular phone has been criticized world over. I still get 2 to 2.5 days of operations before it goes critical. By my usage, thats about 4 hours talktime, 2 hours MP3 time, 3 hours Bluetooth time and the rest - standby time. Is reasonable by my standards. Price: MRP - Rs. 9995 MOP - Rs. 8200 to 8900 (Hyderabad)
I think I raved about it too much - got stolen last week. :(
