TAKES ON 6600
Sony Ericsson K700i had been considered to be a good choice while going for a mobile in the range just above Rs 10, 000. But I have to say that it doesnt have as much as interesting features as Nokia 6600. My friend bought it for Rs 10, 600, ie 800 less than the price at which I bought my 6600. It is a good phone, but he just didnt seem to be satisfied with it.
The major drawback of this phone is that it misses the memory card slot. The budget needs to be much higher if you need a Sony Ericsson mobile with a memory card slot! The in-built memory of 41 MB is good and extremely useful. But it certainly wont be enough for a mobile with a camera, video recorder and an MP3 player. One just cant help himself from storing some videos and MP3 clips after buying a phone like this, which in-turn demand much more space!
SOME GOOD FEATURES
The real advantage of the phone is the flash light, which can be helpful upto an extent at the dark places, and the switches to control the volume and camera on the sides are more than helpful. Even the interface is much better even if it can be confusing for the Nokia users. I have to say that it didnt take me much time to master it after using only Nokia mobiles, it proved to be quite easy!
The phone can play lots of Java games, but the fact that sis files cannot be run, stays as a disadvantage. As lots of softwares are being released with the extension sis, it is always great to have a Nokia mobile. The VGA camera, video recorder and the sound recorder are there, but the video should be taken with some care or it will look extremely bad!
GOES UP AND DOWN
The mobile has the option to set MP3 as ringtone, which Nokia 6600 lacks. The songs are played with great clarity which beats the Nokia phones, but the volume will not be the highest. The joystick is extremely easy to use and you can even use it as a mouse via bluetooth if conected to the PC. Infrared facility is also available if you have the Infrared port connected to the USB.
The phone is quite fast and the speed at which data transfer occurs via bluetooth is quite amazing. There are some downloadable games and themes, but it still laggs behind the Nokia themes and the sis games of Nokia.
It would have been also better if there were enough choices in the colour selection of the phone. The phone does gets some dust accumulated atsome points very easily and there certainly is the need for easily changeable covers.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT
The camera of this mobile hav 4X zoom, but the resolution just keeps decreasing by the zoom and the clarity is far less than 6600. The battery life is quite low and the slim structure of the phone may be the major factor that attracts the buyers. The FM radio is impressive and the 65K display is good too. Considering as a whole this one seems to be a good choice, but certainly not the best!
My friend who owns this phone had the problems of it getting stuck on lots of occasions. His favourite feature seemed to be the Tennis game which was in-built in the phone, which is quite hard to play especially with the small keypads (well, dont take the credit away from the computer player!!!).
There were also some good ringtones and videos already in the phone as he bought it. Anyways, it is good, but only for limited use - you cant make this a substitute for an MP3 player due to the restricted memory - with some additional memory, I would have certainly been a fan of this phone!
THANKS FOR READING THE REVIEW. HOPE I WILL GET SOME COMMENTS
