I ended up buying K750I too casually. Before I go into the review, here is some background information on my purchase.
I had lost my earlier phone and wanted to a new phone badly. I looked at the Nokia web-site and found the options to be too many. That day, I just stopped by the Sony shop in Kothrud. I liked the looks of this phone and all the features that I was looking for (MS Outlook connectivity, Camera, Media Player). I paid 18K and bought the phone.
It’s been 2 months and this is what I think of the K750I features
Basic Phone Performance: It works just great. The reception is good and the voice quality excellent. The battery life is quite good. I end up charging it one a week.
The keys: I like keys which are soft and don’t need a lot of efforts. This is one area where this camera can improve. The keys are small and on the hard side. I end up pressing them with a fingernail.
Camera: This is just great. I never expected it to be so versatile and useful. Now I am able to take good quality pictures without carrying a separate camera. The features like auto focus, macro mode, white balancing feature.
Storage: The 64MB Memory Stick Duo is very useful. It works as a USB drive when the phone is connected to the PC. So the photos can be easily moved to the PC.
Media player/ FM Radio: Sony does not list the FM Radio in its brochures. However both these exist. The sound quality is great.
Outlook Connectivity: This works flawlessly. Allows me to sync up between Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and notes
Internet connectivity: I am in Pune and use BPL. They don’t offer GPRS service in Pune yet. So can’t comment on this feature.
Overall this is a good phone. Later on I realized that I could have saved 1000 Rs, at some other non-Sony authorized shop. The staff at the Sony showroom in Kothrud has very poor product knowledge and bad attitude. It would be a good idea to avoid it. My phone’s lock code was not same as the default setting. As a result, I am not able to set the phone lock code. I can only set the SIM lock code. The Sony Kothrud, guys just shooed me away. So another piece of advice is to check the phone lock code before you pay!
Overall this is cute little phone with a ton of features. I am just glad that I bought it. I would surely recommend it.
