I bought the Sony Ericsson P990i in January 2007. I wanted to replace the ageing Nokia 9300i which I had used for almost a year. P990i is a good smartphone but buy it only if you want one! Consider few other good choices in the market at a far lesser price. It is a **good device to show off**! But if you are a serious user you might not be too happy!
*The main advantages.*
Excellent touch screen, Conventional keypad on a removable flip along with a QWERTY keyboard. Stereo Bluetooth 2.0, Infrared port and USB 2.0 support. Walkman MP3 player and stereo FM radio with RDS. Autofocus 2 megapixel camera with macro mode and LED flash. Memory stick Duo/PRO Duo memory card slot (hot-swap). Connection quality of Sony Ericsson P990i does not cause any concerns, the device works quite well in various conditions.
*The main disadvantages that really matter.*
Records video with a QVGA 320x240 pixels resolution. Display not very legible under direct sun light. User interface is not always user-friendly. With the flip opened, you can hardly dial a number, for example, without concentrating your whole attention to the smartphones screen while many of the functions require that you open the flip in order to use them. It is slow, and the software crashes often.
