Sony ericsson

In this review I have discussed about Sony Ericsson Satio.

As far as Sony products are concerned, their main focus is on multimedia (pictures, music, videos) entertainment. To say a few words about this product, follow on.

Features:

Network:

3G:HSDPA 900 / 2100

Form factor: Candy Bar

Weight: 126 g

A light weight phone - at this range.

Display Screen: TFT touchscreen, 16M colors

Display Resolution: 360 x 640 pixels, 3.5 inches

Amazing screen, damn sure will satisfy video, picturising experience.Big screen allows you to enjoy hi quality movies in large 3.5" screen.A mini TV.

Phone book entries: Practically unlimited, goes on storing, not only numbers alone, but your info, other contact number such as work, home, birthday, personal ring tone.etc.Photo call is available.Call registry is avilable for 30 days [Dialled, Missed, Recieved]

Memory: 128 Mb internal, Expandable upto 32 GB.

Type: Sony M2 card.

Memory is low for such a phone, but the good news is that this phone comes along with 8GB M2 card bundled.Enough to store your multimedia data.

Operating memory: 256 Mb RAM

Good enough RAM support.

GPRS: Class 10, 32-48 Kbps

Bluetooth: Available, v2.0 with A2DP

Infrared port: N/a

Usb: Available, v2.0

Considering the connectivity, may it be GPRS or Wi-fi or Bluetooth, the speeds are excellent.Web pages loads in few seconds [When I tested it took 8 seconds to load a complete web page].No doubt, it surely wins.

As already mentioned "As far as Sony products are concerned, their main focus is on multimedia entertainment" here comes the highlighting features.

Camera:

Primary: 12.1 Mp[4000*3000 pix], Autofocus, Xenon flash, Video LED flash.

Stunning 12.1 Mp camera allowing to take very large images at very high quality.Xenon flash allows user to take pictures in dark places too.Autofocus seems to be slightly delaying.Spring loaded lens cover allows easy to use.

Features: Touch focus, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, red eye removal.

Geo tagging is tagging your contacts with the images taken. To be in detail, if you have taken a group image with your friends, you can tag them by selecting their image in the photograph-just like you do in orkut. You can contact [call] him/her just clicking the corresponding person and call. A maximum of 5 persons/photo is available for tagging. As usual face end smile detection works fine.

The amazing feature is that the Video recording is excellent, allowing users to take video at VGA qualty at 30fps.I have never seen such a hi frame rate in other phones.

Operating System: Symbian S60 v5.0

CPU: ARM cortex A8 600Mhz, Power VR SGZ graphics

OS is same as Nokia 5800/N97.Good graphics support and processing unit.

Regular features: SMS, MMS, E-mail, IM, WAP 2.0/HTML, RSS reader, Organiser.

Radio: Stereo FM

Games: Available [can be downloaded]

GPS: Available with A-GPS support

Java: Available, MIDP 2.0

Google maps preloaded,

Multimedia support:

Supports wmv, rv, mp4, 3gp, mp3, wma, wav, ra, aac, m4a.

Battery: Standard battery, Li-Po 1000mAh

Stand by: Up to 360hrs [2g] & 340hrs [3g]

Talk time: Upto 11 hrs@2g/ 5 hrs@3g

Battery seems to be poor as screen is big, presence of Xenon flash.

Interface: Front side of the phone has only menu/call buttons. While the side has an array of camera based keys. The home screen is customisable so user friendly.

Conclusion:

With 12.1 Mp the phone is excellent for taking pictures. As alreadt told, if you are an multimedia fan go for it. Good ergonomic design.Excellent connectivity, features, Audio playback quality. All at an affordable price.

In a word "Its excellent"

Disadvantages: Low battery life. The biggest drawback is that there is no 3.5mm Audio jack.

Available colours: Black, Silver, Bordeaux

Price range: Rs 35, 990 - 38, 990

I surely recomend Sony Ericsson SATIO.
