Sony Ericsson T610
Well this may be a old model phone, but comparing it with the other
phones in the market now, this is as good as any other phone in the
market, if not better.
Color screen, Camera, Bluetooth, InfraRed, GPRS, WAP, ex cetera, ex
cetera. I guess it was introduced around a couple of years back, very
advanced back then and even now, I would say.
Its got good looks. Black and silver, a good combo to work with. One
bad thing is that, we leave fingerprints on the body. Speaking about
the body, quite a sturdy phone, I have dropped the phone quite a lot,
accidentally though, still works smoothly.
Call quality is amazing compared to my previous T200 (which was also
handled roughly). No dropped calls or bad connection till now. So
scores on this parameter as well.
I am not a tech savvy guy, so am not bothered about the dimensions,
resolution, screen size, etc. But its got a BIG, BIG screen and the
buttons are adequate. Well spaced out. Unlike other phones, you dont
need baby fingers to punch in the numbers.
The best thing about this phone is the display. One word to describe
the display CRYSTAL. The images are really crispy, if I am allowed I
would say crunchy.
The camera is not too good though, but I can manage. It needs lot of
light, if its even a little bit dark, then dont even think of using
the camera. IT JUST NEEDS LOTS AND LOTS OF LIGHT. It works well with
the best source of light, sunlight. However, under sunlight, you would
not be able to see anything on the screen, the icons and things like
that. Its virtually (virtually?? well unusable)unusable in sunlight.
Its got a builtin ringtone composer, its good for starters variable
options and builtin rhythm and sounds, just like templates. Voice
recorder is also present, though I have found no real good use for it.
Has lots of features, which I have never used before and dont plan to
use in the future as well. WAP, connecting to the internet is really
easy, its got a separate button for it and we do have a smooth
navigation. I have checked emails with this phone, but not with
attachments though. Works well. Its a pity that only Yahoo Mail
supports WAP( I think rediffmail also supports ).
Not tried using a bluetooth headset(too expensive, if you ask me), so
cant comment on the quality. However, used blue tooth for transferring
files, is good and usable. One thing I found that this phone missed
was expandable memory, cant download or do much with a 1204KB memory. One thing that I really liked was that you can even send and receive pictures and ringtones through bluetooth and IR, unlike Nokia phones (6610 for example)
I found the user interface to be good. Its just that upgrading from a
Sony Ericsson T200, I found this a tad bit difficult to navigate. The
T200 was much more user friendly than the T610, thats what I feel.
Maybe not as user friendly as a Nokia thats what my friends say (Whats
with that??), but it doesnt burn a h in your pocket like a NOKIA.
Good Battery back up. The battery lasted for 2 full days with the Blue
tooth turned ON. I am an person who uses the phone always for gaming
purposes and fiddle around with it a lot, so if you live out of your
suitcase, carry the charger as well. It aint gonna last long (the
battery, I mean).
Drawbacks of this phone, No built-in speakers, No mp3 player, (not
even mp3 ringtones let alone a player). Certain picture formats are
not supported on this, not sure which ones (like jpegs, bmps etc.). It
just comes with just one theme, not many ringtones as well,
wallpapers...alright but not many. So you have to download everything
from the internet or transfer using bluetooth or the IR port.
The bottom line is GREAT LOOKS, GOOD CALL QUALITY, LOADED WITH
FEATURES (that one could use) and the best part is the AMAZING PRICE.
I got mine for less than Rs. 13000/- with warranty and insurance.
I guess would I have covered most of the things that we need to look
in a phone. If I have overlooked something, thanks and regards.
