I bought this little devil four months back and it wouldn’t
be fair to write about this product within a week’s use. Otherwise it would look like, I bluntly
recommend this product b’cos it’s from Sony Ericsson a trusted brand across the
globe. Though the features listed are well known and publicized widely in
various websites, as like everyone I too searched the net to get the user
feedback which will be more helpful to take a right decision. There were lot of positives and negatives vibes
spreading across various blogs and websites about this product. Let me give my first hand information
about this little genius, for MouthShut readers who values the user comments
and take judgement on their own.
It’s a pretty hard decision to switch over from one brand to
the other, b’cos we normally feel that the product which we own is better than
other brands. May be it would take quite
a long time to come out from the brand affectionado. I was using Nokia for more
than 5yrs, and when it comes to durability Nokia stands atop of all the brands,
but if you are looking for quality, music, clarity then Sony Ericsson would be
the default choice. Here goes my review
about the W200i.
Sony Ericsson W200i is the basic Music Phone from their
Walkman series. It comes with two different colours black and Pulse White… It
looks more similar to W810i but this little devil weighs less and more compact
compared to the former.
Bundle: The bundle
comes with following accessories SE W200i, **128
MB M2 Memory Card, **Bass Reflex earphones, Fastport USB cable, Charger,
Manual & CD.
Walkman: This is the trademark from SonyEricsson
which impulse the major chunk of market share in the mobile phone segment. SE
W200i is a perfect Walkman phone, which has got MegaBass and lot more features
in it. Though the headphone comes with Bass reflex, it doesn’t really excite me
b’cos it doesn’t arrest external sound completely unlike the W550, W700 &
810 sets. Still you can listen to quality music with this headphone. Since the mobile phones comes with a bundle of
free 128 MB Memory card, you can store 40+ songs of your favourite in the
memory stick and also you can add few more songs in the Phone Memory too, this little
devil comes with 27 MB internal Memory too.
For first time users you may find it pretty difficult to get
adjust yourself to the keys placement, especially the volume control and joy
stick, once you get used to it, it will be hard to ignore this beauty.
Infrared: It transfers
data at the speed of 20Kbps. Even getting
connected with other IR device it takes much time. Better transfer data through
USB. If Sony had enabled Bluetooth
in this little device it would have swept the market completely.
Camera: SE had provided VGA camera in this mobile, it
has got the same features like the other camera mobiles but only thing lacks in
this camera is the flash option. Still you can take decent photos of your
friends and relatives and use those photos to make use of Photo Calling.
FM: In FM you can
store up to 20 bands and it comes with options such as Stereo, Mono and RDS
effect. Clarity in FM is good but not the best, when you listen to Walkman and
suddenly switch over to FM you will find the difference.
Extra Features: Thereareplenty of features bundled in this small
phone; if I want to highlight those; obviously I will be running out of page. You have Photo DJ, Music DJ, Themes,
FM Alarm (Which I haven’t tried it yet) Face Wrap, Music Mate… list goes on.
Battery: battery last for two days
*Lacks:
*·
Bluetooth
·
VGA Camera, SE should have given a thought for
at least 1+ Megapixel, could have made a big difference.
·
Protection for Camera lens.
(Don’t expect too much for just paying few thousands, it’s a
perfect upgrade from Basic phone to Basic Music Phone)
*To
Conclude:**This
is the perfect upgrade from basic phone to Basic Music Phone. If you want
better connectivity (Bluetooth), good camera and good features all comes with
an additional price tag of 2000 - 4000 Rs in Sony Ericsson. This review is meant
for people who have budget constraint but wants a decent and stylish camera on their
hands.
Note: Playing games and listening songs through speaker mode will
drain the battery at fast pace.
