W580i - A cute little wonder

I bought the sony ericsson W580i walkman phone 3 months back.I had a nokia 6600 before it.So the review is going to be a little comparison of my experiences with the two phones.

Firstly lets talk about the style. The W580i looks really stylish and cool, especially in White. Its really light weight too and thus very easy to carry, unlike the bulky 6600.

The phone has many features like walkman player, megabass, 2mp camera, bluetooth, cool lights, shake control, FM, fitness application, and a couple of others. For the price, its really loaded.

It supports a variety of formats including mp3, mp4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ etc.The music player is very efficient and the sound quality is very good. The megabass feature is cool but it cuts the high frequencies sometimes during playback. It comes with two games, sims and luminous blocks. The shake control feature lets you change tracks by keeping the walkman button pressed and shaking the phone. It might be fun for a few minutes but after that, you will probably not use it at all.

Now lets talk about the camera. The camera is a 2 megapixel camera without flash and 2.5x zoom in VGA mode. The camera performs exceptionally well in daylight conditions, but the images tend to get grainy and saturated when shooting in low light and indoors.Overall better than average camera.

The phone comes with a 1GB memory card built in and with the PC Suite software you can easily transfer files from/to the phone from/to your pc.

The reception is quite good too, no complaints at all.

The phone isnt perfect though. The biggest problem is the poor feel of the keys. They feel like they are going to come out each time you press them. So if you are into texting, this phone is not for you.

Apart from that there is very little to complain about the phone.I do miss the firm and supportive keys of the nokia 6600, but the exceptional audio quality, stylish design and the brilliant bright display more than make up for it.If you want to text a lot, you could connect the phone with your pc and send messages using your keyboard with the provided software.

All in all I am very satisfied with the W580i. The battery life is quite good, much better than my previous phone and better than similar phones from Nokia.I strongly recommend it and I am sure you wont regret buying this mightily impressive little phone.
