Last year 23 Apr, I bought this mobile as a gift for my wife in UK. But soon I was so attracted by its features that I replaced my own mobile (Z530i) with her gradually :) Even I didn’t mind the girlish orange colour of W800i !!
I am not a heavy duty mobile user. I am one of those guys who would prefer to have just BASIC and ROBUST features on electronic devices. I had been using a simple Nokia phone earlier: No music, no camera, long batterry life etc. and I was contented..
In Apr 2006, alongwith buying W800i, I bought an older version (and cheaper as well) Z530i for myself because I was getting a deal. Though I didn’t had any intention to change my Nokia to Sony Erricsson but since I was getting a nice deal and z530i had a good look, small body and large buttons so I bought that as well.
And I shifted from Nokia to z530i after 7 years. But after couple of weeks, when I noticed the advanced features of W800i, I tactfully convinced my wife to replace her mobile with mine for couple of days only!! And those couple of days are yet not over :)
Good points that I noticed was:
Very easy to handle
Good sound quality
Good signal reception (though its mainlye dependent on service provider)
Radio reception is good
It came with two 512MB Memory stick and so far I didn’t need to use the 2nd stick!
Instrument has never hung in last one year
I charge battery twice a week and it has never let me down in last one year
2Mega pixel camera is handy for those moments when you are not carrying your digicam..It gives good daytime outdoor photos.
Good shortcuts are provided for walkman etc
provides a good navigation (i.e. file structure etc)
Good quality body
looks funky to my wife
Negative points:
My hands free seem to have some fault, sound volume goes down if handsfree lead is not inserted properly (but I guess its specific to my handsfree only)
orange colour (but thats bcos it was bought for a lady originally, not a fault of W800 :(
I haven’t been able to transfer song from W800i using blue-tooth, I don’t know if its not possible, or its not provided by the instrument itself!
