Its almost 2 years since I got this phone and am still in love with it!
I have never been a nokia fan(dont know why) and when I got my first mobile it was a sony(then, no ericsson, only sony). Second was a samsung. Then 2 years back after a lot of heavy use my samsung started to go weak at its knees and when I thought of a new mobile.sony ericsson walkman series came first to my mind. My preference was for a combination of mobile and walkman. Was not much interested in the camera part as I already had one and I believe camera should be a separate entity. I remember I was going for the w700i, but when I reached the showroom I fell for the w810i, especially when the dealer told me the external speakers were free!
This product is definitely a handful compared to several other mobiles providing the same features, but that itself gives you a sturdy feeling. Infact I can vouch for the fact thet this IS a sturdy phone, after all it is still surviving in my hands. People complain that this phone gets discharged very soon, but if you charge it fully it goes for 2-3 days without charging(when you use it for routine calls, few hours of listening to music on head phones and surfing the net for less than an hour).
The sound quality is exceptional especially with the head phones. The phone speakers are not that good, so lower bit music will scratch when listening on them. The external speakers are a real boon. Recently we went to bandhavgarh national park and the external speakers were used to the hilt as it does not take up much space. But it does discharge the mobile sooner! My wife loves her nokia N73, but loves this part of my mobile!
Even today, it doesnt hang, still goes for 2-3 days without charge and quietly bears the occassionalbeing thrown around!
